About us
This group hosts events aimed at developing Nonviolent Communication (NVC) skills and consciousness, and creating community, based on the work and legacy of Marshall B. Rosenberg and his seminal book, 'Nonviolent Communication: a Language of Life'. It’s a place for community gatherings, peer practice sessions, training and more, run by NVC enthusiasts and sometimes London-based trainers certified by the Centre for Nonviolent Communication (https://www.cnvc.org). If inspired you are welcome to offer NVC-themed learning or social events.
Pathways to learning NVC
If you’d like to learn NVC via formal training, facilitated by London-based CNVC-certified trainers, then hop over to the London Page of the NVC-UK website and find out about the training pathway put together by Ceri Buckmaster, Cath Burke, Carolyn Davies, Daren De Witt, Pauline Doohan and Tracy Seed. We fund this page and are committed to creating community and a supportive network for those learning, living and sharing NVC in London. Many of our trainings are currently online, so if you live outside of London, you are welcome to participate.

Keep your NVC fit - Empathic LIstening
Location not specified yetRegister here
This month we will focus on Empathic Listening, which is the skill of holding space for someone when they are trying to process and understand something that has happened. It's the skill of reflecting back and guessing feelings and needs in supportive ways so that we accompany the person with warm, empathic resonance. It's also a helpful skill for meetings that are getting derailed or stuck.
Before you come, you can watch this short video about Reflecting back with Effectiveness and Ease
This is a monthly series to practice 3 core NVC practices
- 4 steps of Self-Empathy
- Empathic Listening
- Role Plays of Difficult Conversations
Practical and Logistics
This is open to people who have done a Foundation training or Intro to NVC. This is not a complete beginners class, although relative beginners (post foundation) are welcome.
There is a no cost option, please use that if having to pay would prevent you from coming.
Disclaimer / Self Check
Nonviolent Communication is not therapy and is not a substitute for therapy. This practice session may not be for you:- If you have a sense that what you want to explore might be challenging for others,
- if it would be triggering to listen to others speaking about difficult events,
- if other people’s beginner-intermediate level learning of NVC might land awkwardly for you.
If you have any questions, please ask.
