Avery's Pond via Pioneer Express Trail

Lets hike to Avery's Pond via the Pioneer Express Trail. This will be an 11.5-mile out and back route starting from the Oregon Hill Parking Lot in Auburn, CA. This multi-use trail is popular for hiking and horseback riding, with beautiful views of the American River. The path is narrow, mostly dirt and gravel, but you'll be surrounded by oak, pine, and manzanita trees.

The elevation range (lowest to highest point) is 430ft with an overall moderate ascent. Once we reach Avery's Pond we will stop for a snack break before turning back. There will be a couple of short, steep climbs at the end of the hike. Well behaved dogs that get along well with other dogs are welcome. Be aware of and responsible for your dog at all times. We will wait 5 minutes before starting.

Parking is Poppy Pass or $10.
Free parking is available on the side of the road around 490 Maidu Dr. Auburn, CA 95603 near Gate 144 at the China Bar Entrance. From there it is a 10 - 15 minute walk to the parking lot, but I would suggest commenting below if you desire car pooling from Maidu Dr. to the Oregon Hill Parking Lot.
