Let’s buy some tools SUN, MAY 19 · 12:30 PM PDT

Before the end of June we must submit our tool and equipment order to procurement at Miracosta College for our North County Makerspace. It’s a two-step process: first, we identify the tools we want, then we pinpoint the specific models we’ll procure. For instance, if we agree on getting a laser cutter, we'll need to choose which one suits our needs best. Keep in mind that product availability shifts, and there are occasional special offers and bundle discounts to consider. By the end of June, we aim to compile our list along with relevant links for tools, bundles, and accessories.

It is important that our North County Makerspace Meetup members participate in the selection process. Our focus on this first complement of tools will be characterized as “Table Top Digital Manufacturing Equipment”. In addition to the procurement of tools, we have opportunities to secure donations of tools such as 3D Printers. Other options include having Miracosta College provide items such as work tables and chairs or stools.

This will be a multi session process that we need to start now.

We will also be reviewing and voting on Logo ideas submitted by Miracosta College for our makerspace. We are not under any time constraints for the logo, so let’s come up with something we really like!
