Cross Timbers backpack on the lost loop weekend/overnight adventure
Details
Crosss Timbers overnight adventure! Backpacking from Cedar Bayou Marnia to Lost Loop.
This is a beginner-friendly backpacking hike along the beautiful Cross Timbers Trail. That being said, cold weather conditions will elevate this hike to a more intermediate-level experience. If you’re new to backpacking and have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out - prepared beginners are always welcome!
Friendly dogs are welcome on this trip. Please bring a leash and be mindful of other hikers.
Start Location & Time
This trip is an extended version of the last cross timbers day hike.
Friday night - I'll be night hiking in starting at 6 pm. It will be dark and we can wait for late arrivals. The site is unknown so we are up for a fun adventure.
If you can't make it out friday night and want to do hike oit with the day walkers please see their event for details.
Parking is available along the road in front of the marina entrance, as well as inside the marina.
Parking fee: $5 cash or pay inside with a card.
Water
The campsite has hike-in access to lake water (ive never camped on lost loop, so I asumme a 10 minute hike up and down to the water), but filtering can be limited depending on sandy lake conditions. I recommend packing in your own water - at least 1 gallon total per person for the full trip.
Weather and Gear
If dangerous weather occurs (such as severe storms), I will reschedule the event. Otherwise, this will be a cold-weather campout, so please bring the appropriate gear.
I will bring my saw and tools to maintain a cleaner campsite for the group. We will have a 30 minute group firewood gathering donation activity to keep us warm for the night.
Distance
The hike from Cedar Bayou to lost loop is approximately 2 miles one way with the site as a to be determined.
