Lofers Bend, Beginners Camping Part 2
Details
North Texas Outdoors invites you to come out and get a taste of camping. Experienced campers are also welcome to come join us. We will be at Lofers Bend on Lake Whitney. A Corp of Engineers park. The area we will be in is a lovely wooded area of the park with a nice view of the lake. We are also close to the overflow parking and the restrooms/showers.
The park is 1 and a half hours south of both Dallas and Ft. Worth.
We will cover:
Shelters: considerations on where and how to set up a shelter.
Campfires: how to build and maintain a campfire. We will build a campfire pending no burn ban. What to do if there is a burn ban.
Cooking: how to set up gas camp stove and use one. Cooking over a campfire.
Gear to include:
Tent/shelter, cot/sleeping pad, sleeping bag/blanket, a pillow. Also a chair, bug spray and flashlight. And a way to cook.
I will be there Friday afternoon about 5:00.
I will be at site #61. Feel free to come on out on Friday or come on out on Saturday. You can stay at my site (up to 8) or make your own reservation at rec.gov.
Just let me know your plans in the comments section.
We can go hiking and/or kayaking. Don't own a kayak, there are local outfitters that will deliver,.
We will have a pot luck on Saturday night. Post your potluck offerings in the comments section so everyone knows what to expect and there there are not half a dozen people bringing chips and dip. Please reach out if you if you need suggestions.
You are responsible for your own well being as well as making your own reservations.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
