What we’re about
I'm looking to make this a regular get together for both new hikers and experienced hikers alike. The main benefit of this group is that all hikes will be easily accessible by transit or by signing up for carpooling. This group makes it easy to meet new people, and we have lots of friendly, social conversations and chat on our hikes. Whether you're looking to join us for a specific event, or to be a reoccurring attendee to make new friends, this group is for you!
Event Difficulty Ratings: (Viewable in the Event Descriptions)

*Based on your level of fitness - you will find some events easier or harder
Maximum 3 No-Shows:
1 After 3 no-shows → removal from group
2 Attendees who consistently change their RSVP's to not going
in a roughly: 1 (going) to 4 (not going) ratio → counted as a no-show
3 Saying you can drive attendees, and then changing your RSVP to not going → immediate removal from group (increases no-shows of members)
4 Attendees on a waistlist who come out to events → counted as a no-show
5 Attendees who post in the comments, but then don't go out to the event → counted as a no-show (spam)
6 We don't cancel events due to weather unless the organizer feels there's a safety risk. We go regardless of sun/rain/light snow. Asking if the event is cancelled in the comments section, when the event hasn't been cancelled or no comment regarding cancellation has been made by the organizer → counted as a no-show (increases no-shows of members)
Organizer Recommendations:
*Each organizer runs their events differently, below is a general guideline of what they do.
*For up to date information, including the difficulty of each event and what hiking equipment to bring, always check each Event Description.
*Our group tends to run larger event sizes which can be slow for some people, and includes waiting for slower hikers to catch up to us. Match the different organizer's event difficulty, group size, group speed, and leadership style to your experience level and temperament.

Coquitlam Lake View, Sawblade and Woodland Walk Loop: Intermediate+
Location TBD, N/A, Vancouver, BC, CAAbout the Hike
READ THE DESCRIPTION
This route offers a mix of terrain that keeps things interesting, taking you through different types of trails — from wide gravel roads to narrow, steep sections winding through the forest. During the summer months, you’ll encounter three river crossings, most of which are shallow and easy to navigate. When you reach the fork, be sure to take the path that climbs upward and look for the pink trail markers, which will guide you along the correct route. Continue following these markers until you come across a sign that reads, “Final climb 5 mins.”
The last stretch is a tough, steep scramble that demands effort and focus, though it isn’t considered dangerous. The summit area is quite small, so be courteous and allow time for others to take in the beautiful panoramic views before heading down.
In winter, the trail becomes significantly more difficult and potentially slippery due to ice and snow. If you’re hiking during this season, make sure to bring proper gear such as microspikes, snowshoes, and trekking poles to ensure safety and stability on the icy sections.

Dog Mountain Trail: Intermediate Mount Seymour Provincial Park
Mount Seymour, 1700 Mount Seymour Road North Vancouver, Vancouver, BC, CAAbout the Hike
READ THE DESCRIPTION
Dog Mountain Trail is a well-known, clearly marked route overlooking North Vancouver, located within Mount Seymour Provincial Park. The path is well maintained, mostly flat, and easy to walk, with only light rolling elevation. It’s considered a moderate hike mainly due to the many exposed roots created by frequent foot traffic.
This trail is family-friendly, though very young children may find the rooty sections challenging. Dogs are allowed on leash, and you’ll likely encounter plenty along the way. To avoid crowds, it’s best to arrive early, as the parking lot fills up fast.
The trail passes First Lake and several small creeks before ending at the open summit of Dog Mountain, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Vancouver and the surrounding bay. Seymour Resort provides a large parking area, a café, picnic spots, washrooms, and other amenities. The trailhead begins at the upper end of the parking lot—walk past the café, and you’ll see the trail information board confirming you’re on the correct route.
In winter, hikers should use crampons or microspikes to stay safe on icy sections and in the transition zone between lower-elevation forest and higher-elevation snow.
