More about Improv

Improvisation, or ‘improv’, is a form of group activity in which exercises games and stories are made up spontaneously. There are no lines to rehearse and is highly creative and fun. Improv offers amazing opportunities for problem solving, innovation and creativity both for home and at work.

Improvisation, or ‘improv’, is well-regarded for unlocking creativity that has been used for over 50 years. Creativity is an innate part in every human and improv helps you discover and unlock this magic.

Studies have shown that the skills of improvisation can help with better management of unexpected changes and uncertainty. It improves collaboration, builds confidence, and increases the ability to absorb new ideas. It is highly recommended for creativity. We use a variety of games as a way of being creative. You will need to come with an open mind.

Create together. Be spontaneous. Laugh - What people say about our improv :

“Was warmly welcomed and felt at ease straight away, with such a lovely group of people.”

“The Improv Class was amazing and fun”

“Great to meet new people; enjoyed all games.”

Our ground rules will be:

• Be Spontaneous

• Making mistakes is OK (and where learning and creativity happens)

• Go with the Flow - Say “Yes and….”

• Respect other people’s boundaries

• Be prepared for spontaneity, silliness and laughter

You will need to be come with an open mind. We operate a pay-as-you feel model.

Covid precautions

1. We are restricting numbers to 12 maximum (normally we have up-to 20) to reduce the risks

2. We will provide hand gel for everyone to use

3. We don’t ask anyone to wear a mask. But we are happy if you wish to wear one

4. We will aim to keep our games at 1m+ social distance level. Due to the nature of improv activities, we can’t always guarantee that.

5. Their are two ventilation units in the room. However they are no accessible windows that can be opened.

Our Code of Behaviour

Improv is about respecting your scene partner(s) and the group. A safe environment is our primary concern.

• If you are abusive in any way you will be asked to leave

• We ask there is no consumption of alcohol before and during the class

• While improv generates interesting characters and creates unique scenes, it should never be used as a veil to abuse others or deliberately put anyone in an upsetting situation.

NorthWest London Improv is managed by kinetik solutions ltd.
