Inkscape for laser cutting - holiday ornaments

North End Makerspace

TICKETS: [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/inkscape-for-laser-cutting-holiday-ornaments-tickets-448637154807]
Cost: members: $25.00, non-members: $35.00

This event was postponed from its original date.

We will use Inkscape, a free, open-source, vector drawing program similar to Illustrator to design layered ornaments with a name on them, suitable for cutting on the laser. You can easily change the name to create custom ornaments once you have your design. We will cut out our finished designs on our laser cutter for you to take home.
You will learn:

  • What vectors are
  • Drawing simple vector shapes
  • Boolean operations to create complex vector shapes
  • Getting your file laser-ready
  • The skills to take what you learn to create your own designs for the laser cutter

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:

This class is NOT a certification class for the laser at NEM, or a class on how to use the laser cutter. The instructor will cut out all the designs made during class and you will go home with an ornament ready to paint and assemble.
