About us
We are a group of ordinary folks in Northern Kentucky interested in the outdoors and in protecting the environment. We offer hikes, trail maintenance work in local parks, interesting presentations on regional environmental topics, book clubs, local food events, environmental activism and good old fun with other outdoor, environmental people. We're happy that you're interested in our Group. We are a part of the national Sierra Club, and of the Cumberland Chapter of the Sierra Club in Kentucky. Check back here regularly. We will be posting new events all the time!

Trail Service at Big Bone Lick
Big Bone Lick State Historic Site, 3380 Beaver Rd, Union, KY, US2 trails at Big Bone Lick were blazed many years ago by Northern KY Sierra Club: Cedar Run and Bison Spur. Since then we've kept them in good shape with annual trail work, using light tools like clippers, loppers, weed whips and small saws. We also tend Gobblers Trail which runs between the campground and the museum parking lot. Volunteers can use tools owned by Sierra Club or the park, or bring their own - but no chainsaws.
Arrive at least 5-10 minutes before 9:30am in the museum parking lot.
RSVP by 5pm Friday Sep 25. If the schedule changes, expect a notification here or by 8am Saturday 9/26.
Long sleeves and pants, work gloves and sturdy shoes with good treads all recommended. We will have extra work gloves if anybody needs them. Bring your own liquid and snacks.
Children are welcome but a parent or legal guardian must accompany and sign the waiver for minors. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SIGN the waiver affirming that they agree with the liability waiver and acknowledge self-risk participation – please read Sierra Club's waiver in advance:

Restrooms in the park will be open, but there are no restrooms on the trails and we will work upto an hour away from them. The park allows dogs on-leash, but dogs may be problematic while we are using tools.
Location: 3380 Beaver Rd, Union, KY 41091. Park entrance is 15-20 minutes west of I-71 / 75 exit # 175 on KY-338. Going west from 71 / 75 this route changes streets a couple times, so follow the 338 signs. Eventually descend into a big valley where cell service wanes. Look for the park sign and entrance on the left. Park phone: 859-384-3522.
