Paddle the Border Brule River

We still have water in our rivers for good paddling, so we need to take advantage of it while it lasts. This event will take us northeast of Eagle River in the Alvin Township area of Nelma, Wi along the Michigan/Wisconsin border. We will paddle the headwaters section of the Brule as it comes out of Michigan for app 4 1/2 miles into the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest of Wisconsin. Paddle the border Brule River, Thursday, June 5, 1;30 -5:00 pm, The Habit parking lot, Nelma, WI. On this stretch you will see the largest wooded brown trout you ever saw. This is an easy paddle with no rapids. We will meet in the parking lot of The Habit in Nelma, WI. at 1:30 pm. From there we will caravan to the put-in at the end of a DNR easement road not far away. There we will drop our boats and gear and shuttle our vehicles to the take-out at the end of Forest Rd 2172 (Gaspardo Rd.). A PFD is required on all NPT paddle events. Directions from Eagle River (30 min, 23 miles) Take Hwy 70 east to Hwy 55 (turn left) drive through Alvin to Co Hwy A (turn left) . Travel app 2 miles to the parking lot of The Habit Bar and Grill (on right) 8416 Co Rd A Nelma, Wi. 54542.
