Paddle the Border Brule River

Details
Paddle the border Brule River, Saturday, July 19th, 10:30 am - 3:30 pm, meet at the Gaspardo Rd. River Access
This section of the border Brule which divides the two states of Wisconsin and Michigan will take you along MI. DNR land on your left, and on your right you will be paddling along the northern edge of the Chequamegon/Nicolet National Forest. For those who paddled the headwaters section almost a month ago, you for sure, do not want to miss this second stretch. There is very little development along the way which gives you a sense of true wilderness. There are no rapids on this 9 mile stretch (approx. 3 - 3 1/2 hrs.) but it does have numerous pleasant riffles which are fun. This section is well suited for novice paddlers with its consistent current. We will meet at the end of Gaspardo Rd (put-in) at 10:30 am and take-out at the Hwy 139/189 bridge. At the put-in we will drop our boats and gear and shuttle our vehicles on a good gravel road (Forest Road 2172) through the national forest to the take-out . You should pack a lunch and plan on eating just before we begin the paddle. A PFD is required on all NPT paddle events. Directions from Eagle River (41 min, 30 miles) Take Hwy 70 east to Hwy 55 (turn left) drive through Alvin to Wilson Rd (Forest Rd 2457) (turn right) . Travel app 2 miles to a stop sign intersection. Turn left onto Forest Rd 2172 (Gaspardo Rd.) to the put-in. New for 2025 - A donation of $5.00 per event is requested for non-NPT members which can be paid at the event.
