Paddle/Camp Bois Brule River

Details
If you haven't paddled Wisconsin's premiere Bois Brule River yet, this is your big chance. This adventure will start on Tuesday, August 26, and conclude on Thursday, August 28. NPT Paddle/Camp Bois Brule River, August 26-28, 2025 , meet at site #11, Bois Brule Campground. We will be camping in the Brule River State Forest at the Bois Brule Campground just south of the little town of Brule. Check in starts at 3:00 pm. If you cannot find a site we can possibly share a site with others in our group depending on your camping unit. There is camping not far away at the state campground, Copper Range downstream. Possibly you may want to paddle/camp only one day or just paddle, that works too.. These sites fill up fast so reserve your site ASAP. If you want to camp in the family campground you will need to reserve a site for the two nights of August 26 and 27, go to: https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/StateForests/bruleriver/recreation/camping
We will paddle two sections of the river which will require basic/intermediate paddling skills. Wednesday we paddle (10 miles) from the Stone Bridge Landing to the campground. On Thursday, the group has three options: 1.) You could start at the campground landing and paddle 8 1/2 miles/app 3hrs) through the "Meadows", (quiet water), taking out at the Pine Tree Landing north of Copper Range Campground, 2.) Repaddle the 2 1/2 mile stretch from Winneboujou landing to the campground (lots of fun, almost all riffle water) or 3.) put-in at the Hwy 13 bridge to the take-out at Lake Superior (8 miles/ 3-4 hrs). On Tuesday evening we will gather as a group around the fire, at site #11, and discuss the shuttle for Wednesday's paddle and your options for Thursday . This will include DNR rules on the river, safety, time/location for the shuttle from the campground, short description on what to expect on the river, and answer any questions. Remember not to bring firewood into the campground from home. It can be purchased nearby.
Each participant will be responsible for their own boat/equipment, camping gear and food/drink. A PFD is required in your boat for each person on this trip. It is important to RSVP, so we know who is coming and can communicate any important information that you may need to know. Hope to see you on the river in August!!!!
