I've scouted out a pretty nice loop route, 50/50 gravel vs. paved roads in a beautiful part of the west valley. It's lightly trafficked, for now, so let's get out there and get some miles in the saddle.
It's a 17.5 mile route, with 700 feet of elevation gain. Starting next to Farm to Market Road, where there's a nice parking area (see map). I'd use a gravel bike or something similar. There's one section, under a mile long, which is a fairly rough road but it's nothing a gravel bike can't easily handle. I would not bring a road bike.
I thought 7:00 would be a good start time, allowing for the daytime temperatures to cool down a bit. We'll ride at a moderate pace (12-15 mph?) and take a break or two to take in the scenery. Wear something bright and we'll see you next Wednesday!
