Hike To Strawberry Lake, Northern Jewel Basin

Let's meet on the east side of the C. Falls Super 1 under the pine trees at 8:30 am. We will then carpool to the trailhead off of Krause Basin Rd. The trail has a lot of shade, so it is a good hike for a hot day. By 2 pm it will only reach 83 degrees. The hike is 6 miles round trip and 1,700 elevation gain. "The trail crosses Krause Creek and works up a series of switchbacks in an old hemlock and grand fir forest that gives way to a spruce and subalpine fir forest at higher elevation. There are great views of the lower Flathead valley from the top part of the trail as it traverses around an open mountain slope to the lake." If you want to swim in the lake, bring a bathing suit and towel. Otherwise, bring bear spray, bug spray, sunscreen, water and lunch. I hope you can join me!
