Hike the Standard Peak Trail in the Whitefish Range
Details
Hey everyone - let's hike to Standard Peak in the Whitefish Range. We'll be afforded incredible vistas of the fall colors and we all know opportunities are dwindling. The rain in the forecast isn't supposed to appear until early evening and we may even hike in the sunshine for part of the journey.

We'll be on the lookout for grizzlies and black bears and keep in mind they are gorging on all kinds of food in preparation for the long winter. Make sure you stay close to other hikers.
We'll actually be hiking part of the Smoky Range Trail #270 and that is the trailhead sign we'll be looking for off of McGinnis Creek Road which is about 10-12 miles north of Columbia Falls off of the North Fork Road.
Length: 5.9 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,955 feet
Difficulty: Moderately Strenuous
Bring your bearspray.
Bring extra layers, plenty of food/snacks, water/electrolytes, rain gear, and trekking poles if you like using them. Anything else you think you might need. Bring your dog if he/she is well-behaved.
We'll meet at the Columbia Falls Super 1 Foods near the coffee hut drive-through at 9:00AM and arrange a carpool. See you there!
