This will be a nice hike along the far shoreline of Lake McDonald. The mountain views from the trail are different than those from Apgar Lookout - closer and more imposing. With all of the snow on the peaks they'll make for a wonderful backdrop for us to enjoy all morning and early afternoon. We'll find plenty of driftwood logs to sit on and have lunch on the beach at the campground and take our time enjoying the views.

On our way back we'll incorporate the Rocky Point Loop into this hike.

We'll encounter lots of little hills but will stay close to the lake so nothing drastic. Easy-peasy.

R/T Distance: approx 9.0 miles
Elevation Gain: approx 750 feet
Bring your bear spray.

Bring extra layers, food/snacks, plenty of water, electrolytes and trekking poles. We'll meet at 9:30 at the park and ride lot on the corner of highways 206 and 2 on the edge of Columbia Falls to arrange a carpool (see map pin).
