Details

This session will go over the basic operation of the vinyl cutter, sublimation printer and heat press at the North Forge fabrication lab.

What will we cover:

  • safety orientation for the equipment
  • basics of vector graphics in CorelDRAW
  • CutMaster3 vinyl cutter software
  • what materials are available
  • basic operation of our Graphtec FC8000-130 vinyl cutter (like a 48" Cricut)
  • basic operation of our sublimation ink printer
  • basic operation of the heat press

If you have a fabric item or a hard item (like a water bottle) for which you want to make a decal, bring them along.
North Forge stocks many colours and types of vinyl, and the training will include a reasonable amount of vinyl for participants to use.

Time
The session should take about 2 hours. The training will last for about an hour, and then you will have the rest of the time to use the equipment with the instructor present.

Safety / Equipment:
North Forge Fabrication Lab requires safety shoes and safety glasses to access. Slip-one toe caps and glasses are provided if you can’t bring your own.
Masks are preferred.

Successful completion of this session will meet the training requirement for North Forge members to use these tools independently.

Payment
Cost is $52.50 inclusive of GST, to be paid before starting the course, please contact Emelia at enyarku@northforge.ca for payment options.
