A Seasonal Wrap Up and Celebration
Details
Seasons Greetings NYPGrs!
For our December 8th meeting, it’s New Science with Linda and we’ll continue with three short presentations with discussion, from David H - update on the Balloon Borne Solar Telescope - Eclipse 2024 Project; Betty on Solar Cycle 25 Flaring Up and Larry TBA. Also a December tradition..we’ll have a special musical interlude from some of our NYPGrs - Theremin and Flute so far!
BTW NYPG members, if you would like to take part in our musical interlude, do message Betty when you RSVP..
And then we’ll party from 9:15 to Midnight at the virtual NO HOLDS BAR. Bring your snacks and drinks and enjoy the more informal conversation and conviviality amongst our NYPG attendees!
Looking forward to seeing you on Friday night, December 8th!
Friendly reminder..The Zoom link for this meeting is visible on this event’s page, only to members who RSVP.

About the North York Physics Group (NYPG)
NYPG was established in 2009 and now has more than 1,700 members.
Our presentations provide a venue for learning from members and guest
academics and scientists. We also have video lectures covering on all aspects of Physics.
We encourage our members to submit presentations or help us find great Physics presenters, whether they be professional academics, post-grads, or just physics enthusiasts.
Within our 3 hour +/- meetup, each member gets to learn and discuss many aspects of Physics.
The only "formal" qualifications you need to join is a sincere personal
desire and enthusiasm for Physics; to keep yourself informed and to
courteously share your insights.
Pre-pandemic, after the formal meeting there was the Afterwards..many of us would go a short distance outside to a local pub/restaurant for drinks, snacks, chatting, making new physics oriented friends, or comparing notes with our circle of very scientific friends! For now we hang out at the virtual “No Holds Bar”. Hope you can join us for that! Closing time is normally 11pm at the virtual No Holds Bar!
BTW: Some members have asked if we will be going back to in person meetings. That would be nice, but, many of our regular attendees are at too much of a distance, or prefer not travelling, so the virtual meetings work well. However, we are looking into possible hybrid meetings meaning an appropriate free meeting space with reliable internet service is a must.
Mohsen and I would like to thank our Organizing Team: Linda, Dan, Larry, Vera and Avo for their dedicated support of NYPG. Thank you TEAM!
Betty and Mohsen.
