Seasons Greetings NYPGs!

Hope everyone is in a holiday mood for NYPG’s December 12th meeting starting at 6:30 pm. After a short preamble, we’ll have two presentations. First, it’s our popular monthly New Science with Linda, after which Larry will give another well-received Short Takes session in which he covers a variety of short physics videos.

A friendly reminder: All members are encouraged to join in discussion after each presentation..Since time is limited, it is appreciated by all when you raise your hand either physically or virtually, wait your turn and keep questions and comments brief and related to the presentation topic..Btw..this reminder does not apply so much at the NO HOLDs BAR. :-) Thank you All!

We’ll have final announcements and adjourn the main meeting as close to 9 pm as possible, have a short break and move on to the virtual NO HOLDS BAR, open from 9:15 pm. There, we’ll wrap up the year and party til midnight! We hope to have some fun entertainment there too! Bring your snacks and drinks and enjoy the more informal conversation and conviviality amongst our NYPG friends! See you there!

Much appreciation goes to NYPG Team Members Linda for her New Science and Larry for Short Takes, as well as to NYPG Team Members Dan and Aaron for their most appreciated contributions and support, and of course to our NYPG Founder, Mohsen. Thank You!

Happy Holidays! Looking forward to seeing you on Friday night, December 12th!

Friendly reminder..The Zoom link for this meeting is visible on this event’s page only to members who RSVP.

About the North York Physics Group (NYPG)

NYPG was established in 2009 and has now more than 1,900 members.

Our presentations provide a venue for learning from members and guest
academics and scientists. We also have video lectures covering on all aspects of Physics.

We encourage our members to submit presentations or help us find great Physics presenters, whether they be professional academics, post-grads, or just physics enthusiasts.

Within our 3 hour +/- meetup, each member gets to learn and discuss many aspects of Physics.

The only "formal" qualifications you need to join is a sincere personal
desire and enthusiasm for Physics; to keep yourself informed and to
courteously share your insights.

Pre-pandemic, after the formal meeting there was the Afterwards..many of us would go a short distance outside to a local pub/restaurant for drinks, snacks, chatting, making new physics oriented friends, or comparing notes with our circle of very scientific friends! For now we hang out at the virtual “No Holds Bar”. Hope you can join us for that! Closing time is normally 11pm at the virtual No Holds Bar!

BTW: Some members have asked if we will be going back to in person meetings. That would be nice, but, many of our regular attendees are at too much of a distance, or prefer not travelling, so the virtual meetings work well. We are looking for a convenient place where we can have hybrid meetings, meaning an appropriate free meeting space with reliable internet service is a must.

In the meantimetime we have been having some informal get-togethers in person. Our next In-Person meeting will be the later part of January 2026. TBA.

Mohsen and I would like to thank our Organizing Team: Linda, Dan, Larry and Aaron for their dedicated support of NYPG. Thank you TEAM!

Betty and Mohsen.
