More SHORT TAKES on Physics!
Details
Welcome NYPGrs!
The February 13th NYPG meeting will start with our popular monthly NEW SCIENCE with Linda Tu and this time for our main presentation, Larry Smith will present more SHORT TAKES - some short videos on a variety of subjects - hopefully giving everyone a taste of various physics topics.
There will be about one hour of videos and each video will be followed by a Q&A session of equal length, For example, a 10 minute video will be immediately followed by a 10 minute Q&A discussion before we move on to the next video.
The Short Takes videos this time: TBA. Suggestions for topics are welcome.
Thank you Linda and Larry for presenting this month! Also, much appreciation goes to Dan, Aaron and especially Mohsen, our NYPG Founder, for their ongoing support and contributions ..AND a big thank you to our regular NYPG members and Newbies for attending and participating in our meetings!
Stay warm and we look forward to seeing you on Friday, February 13th!

About the North York Physics Group (NYPG)
NYPG is in its 19th year, with over 1,900 members!
Our presentations provide a venue for learning from members and guest academics and scientists. We also have video lectures covering all aspects of Physics.
We encourage our members to submit presentations and help us find great Physics presenters, whether they be professional academics, post-grads, or just physics enthusiasts.
In our meetup, members learn and discuss many aspects of Physics. After the regular meeting we can go the the No Holds Bar for more informal interaction,
The only "formal" qualifications you need to join is a sincere personal desire and enthusiasm for Physics; to keep yourself informed and to courteously share your insights.
BTW; Pre-pandemic, after the formal in-person meetings there was the Afterwards..many of us would go a short distance outside to a local pub/restaurant for drinks, snacks, chatting, making new physics oriented friends, and comparing notes with our circle of very scientific friends! Now we hang out at the virtual “No Holds Bar”. 9:15-11pm..Hope you can join us for that!
Members have asked if we will be going back to in-person formal meetings. That would be nice, but, many of our regular attendees are at too much of a distance, or prefer not travelling too far, so the virtual meetings work well. However, we are still looking into possible hybrid meetings, meaning an appropriate free meeting space where reliable internet service is a must. However, NYPG has quarterly in-person social meetings at Novotel. It is a pleasure to see some of you there! We will have more of these NYPG Socials in future.
Mohsen and I would like to thank our Organizing Team: Linda, Dan, Larry and Aaron for their dedicated support of NYPG and also to John B for hosting our meetings from time to time. If you would like to be part of the NYPG Organizing Team, we would love to have your help! Thank you ALL!
Betty and Mohsen.
