A huge choir hollering irreverent lyrics in Medieval Latin (written largely by non-conforming clergy students of the 11th and 12th century) above 2 pianos, an orchestra and thundering percussion. If this is in town, why would any of us be anywhere else that evening? You already know “O Fortuna”, the opening and closing movement- it’s a film favourite used when vocalists yelling unintelligible weirdness is required:

The Société philharmonique du Nouveau Monde – choirS and orchestra – invites you to its presentation of Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. Undoubtedly one of the most popular classical works, it is especially renowned for its powerful opening and conclusion, O Fortuna, known worldwide.

On stage, over 150 choristers will perform alongside two guest pianists, Gianluca Luisi and Lorenzo Di Bella, as well as percussionists and soloists Ania Hejnar (soprano), Jeffrey Carl (tenor), and Alexandre Sylvestre (bass), under the energetic baton of Maestro Michel Brousseau.”

Time: Show up at 7:30 when the doors open, we’ll find each other, get our seats. It is a beautiful old church. Music is 8-10pm

TICKETS : ranges. 38$ and up. I chose a 49$ ticket, first row balcony right side “balcony 6 row W seat 67” SEE PHOTO OF MY SEAT AREA BELOW. My ticket, oddly, doesn’t actually say my seat number. Let’s start a row there in the pink right side balcony together. Just buy a seat and we’ll all basically sit together. *Buy now, sit near everyone! ***Or sit wherever you like of course.
