About us
A group for outdoor lovers seeking exploration and connection with like-minded people. We will mainly be hiking in and around the east midlands and peaks with other fun outdoor activities sprinkled between (these will likely be from spring onwards). Join us for hikes, kayaking, paddleboarding, biking, wild swimming, yoga, camping, weekend exploration amongst many more activities.
We understand that it can be difficult meeting people, and even harder finding people who want to explore. That's why we have created this group, to gather you up and get out there and have fun together!
We will organise socials for us to get to know each other better, both before and after hikes, and for you to gauge if you would like to join us. We know these things can be intimidating, but we are friendly and all looking for the same thing, so come on over.
Dogs welcome
Meetup charge the organisers to set up these groups and there for we would appreciate a ÂŁ1 donation for each event to cover the high costs. Payments can be made via PayPal.me/STholema

132 dales road, 132 dale road,, Matlock, GBHARD- i will not accept everyone for this one, and only people who have been on a walk with me before will be accepted. This will also be on a wait list basis so i can ensure everyone is able to do this.
9.6 miles
2500ft elevationThis is a circular walk starting from Matlock that takes in High Tor, the Giddy Edge traverse, a short section of the High Peak trail, Cromford and the Heights of Abraham. The walk has some steep climbs but these are rewarded with some great views.
The route includes the Giddy Edge traverse, and there is a one way system in operation. The giddy edge traverse has a lot of exposure but there is an alternate route that avoids this. There are toilets and tea rooms en-route.
A 5.5–6 hour hilly circular walk starting in Matlock, passing Riber Castle and climbing through woodland, fields and open countryside with wide-ranging views. The route goes through Riber, Hearthstone and Lea Bridge, crosses the River Derwent, and returns via Cromford. It includes Giddy Edge, a narrow, exposed cliffside path that is rough and unfenced, so it’s only suitable in dry, calm conditions.
Please arrive at at 9.30 to leave at 9.45 promptly. Please car share where you can so we don't overload the area.
Afterward, we will be going to The Bentley Brook Brewing Company, The Old Carpenters Shop, Lumsdale, Matlock DE4 5EW which is a 8 min drive away Please note- I can NOT guarantee seating nor that they will be serving food, we are a large group that do not know exactly when we will be there. Therefore, reserving is difficult. I'd advise you to bring your own lunch just in case.
