Car/Bus Ramble: Ockbrook Circular

What we will do: Walk: Arrive 10.15am for 10.30am start. From The Bartlewood Lodge car park. Distance: 5.5 miles. The circular walk will take us across country to Ockbrook where we will explore the Ockbrook Moravian Church and cemetery where we can also stop for coffee. Carrying on we will stop by the lake in Locko Park after about 4 miles. Our route back is again mostly along footpaths to the hotel. A carvery lunch is available as well as a full menu. If you arrive early enough the restaurant is open for breakfast as are the toilets.

Directions by car: Meet in the car park - The Bartlewood Lodge, DE72 3RY just outside Ockbrook. Car share can be arranged.
Directions by bus: The Ilkeston Flyer (TrentBarton) from Derby runs about every 20 minutes and stops near Bartlewood Lodge on the way to Cotmanhay. Journey time from Derby Bus Station is about 10 to 15 minutes. The other way from Nottingham the best route is the ‘Red Arrow’ TrentBarton non-stop coach service to Derby every ten minutes – journey time about 35-45 minutes. Then pickup the Ilkeston Flyer from Derby Bus Station.

Important to know: There are usually 10-15 people on these walks. A lot of the walkers will be club members and are not on the Meetup website.

What to bring: Please dress appropriately for a country walk. Wear proper walking boots, bring a rucksack with liquid refreshment and some waterproof clothes depending on the weather forecast for the day.
