Miranda Sex Garden @ Rough Trade with Hurtsfall and Modern Coven

Was so pleased I saw this on I'm Not From London's Facebook page, as I didn't realise they were still going! I was quite a fan of these in the 90s, from their associations with Mute Records and Depeche Mode - I think I saw them support DM at one stage, and past member Hepzibah Sessa was married to Alan Wilder too.

They reformed again in 2022, and now have Kavus Torabi who we last saw in The Utopia Strong in Derby.

Support comes from locals Hurtsfall and Modern Coven who between bridge the gap wonderfully between gothic, synthy and MSG's early wispy vocal madrigals

Miranda Sex Garden’s sold out one-night show at London’s 100 Club in July 2022, was a long-awaited spring blossom after twenty years of winter. In the Autumn of 2023 they returned for another London show, followed by a UK wide tour leading up to a headline slot at Wave Gotik Treffen in 2024 as well as more headline shows in the EU and UK in support of their latest EP, Velventine.
Rooted in madrigal traditions and later cross-bred with goth-industrial and prog-rock cuttings, their musical hybrid has borne many fruit. They topped the classical charts with 1990’s Madra. They’ve toured with the likes of @depechemode , @nickcaveandthebadseeds , Hole and @einsturzende_neubauten . They’ve released 4 follow-up studio albums, including their last – the critically acclaimed, show-stopping Carnival of Souls.
