This week we'll be exploring some powerful and transformative (but remarkably simple and straightforward) techniques that sit at the very heart of Mindfulness — techniques that can swiftly liberate us us from the pain of feeling small, worthless, a failure at life, or somehow uniquely ‘inadequate’. These simple techniques bring us freedom from the gnawing and intensely negative feelings that can flood us with self-criticism, harsh self-judgement – and which so often rob us of any authentic sense of self-worth, confidence, and self-assurance.
(And what we're exploring this week is different to the vitally important principle of Self-Compassion that we also sometimes explore. Our focus this week is on OTHER elements of Mindfulness that can move us decisively in the direction of authentic self-acceptance and greater self-assurance.)
In an up-close look at the remarkable ability of Mindfulness to bring about real and lasting personal change, we'll investigate two key (but little explored) aspects of Mindfulness — and associated Mindfulness practices — that are known to be highly potent ways of liberating us from the darkness of cruel self-judgement and even self-loathing, thereby providing us with a powerful path to personal freedom and greater inner-peace.
In the course of Thursday's meeting, we'll be exploring some of the scientifically-proven methods that sit at the core of Mindfulness, and we'll hear from leading experts including Brene Brown and Jon Kabat-Zinn, plus others in the fields of meditation, psychology and neuroscience. These top experts will share their understanding and insights with us in short, inspiring video talks, while respected local Mindfulness teacher, Shaun Glossop (our Group Co-Ordinator), will be on-hand to guide us through the topic in a grounded, straightforward and easy-to-understand way.
Plus, of course, we'll also join together in several periods of deeply relaxing guided meditation!
