Come join us for climate justice advocacy at the Historic Manassas Farmers Market! CCAN’s NoVA action team needs your help collecting petition signatures to Make Polluters Pay in Virginia. Includes training.
As a thank you, each volunteer will be treated to a drink or snack (<$10) from the farmers market!WHEN: Saturday, May 31, two-hour shifts between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM (Ting will reach out to see which shift you can participate in! Or sign up here.)
WHERE: Prince William Street Parking Lot, 9024 Prince William St., Manassas, VA 20110 - Neighborhood Invasive Vine Removal - Springfield7419 Loisdale Rd, Springfield, VA 22150, Springfield , VA
This event will be a fun mix of door-to-door canvassing and invasive vine removal. We will meet at Loisdale Park and spend the first 30 minutes doing training on vine removal and canvassing. From there we will break into pairs and head to a list of pre-surveyed residences in the area to offer vine removal for residents.
We will focus on non-native invasive vines including porcelainberry (Ampelopsis glandulosa var. brevipedunculata) and English ivy (Hedera helix). Please wear long pants, long sleeves, and close-toed shoes. Instructions and tools will be provided, so just bring yourself and a good attitude!
A reminder email will be sent out the day before with detailed instructions on where to meet. Must RSVP at the link, not just on Meetup!
