Rural Resistance 2.0: Data Centers and Dirty Gas
Details
NoVA New Leaf's parent organization, Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN), is collaborating with POWHR Coalition, Alliance for Appalachia, Artivism VA, and Appalachian Voices to bring you Rural Resistance 2.0! We are back again to talk with you about the connections between the fracked gas infrastructure gas buildout and data centers—and how communities are resisting them. Learn from organizers, activists and community members about what's happening in Virginia and how you can get involved.
All across our region and the county, a massive fracked gas infrastructure buildout is unfolding at an unprecedented pace. Destructive new high capacity gas pipelines are tearing through rural communities. Massive new power plants are being approved. And it seems like everywhere you turn, there's a new data center back room deal being thrust on top of a community already burdened with air and water issues. The infrastructure of the "future economy" is proceeding without a care for the health and safety of not only rural communities, but anyone who happens to be in the way -- while the companies designing and building it are raking in obscene profits. We're told that it's needed and inevitable, but those working on the ground to halt this destructive wave of pulluting and economically disastrous buildout have a different story to tell.
Please register here for an informative and inspiring gathering of frontline voices welcoming you to learn about the challenges and opportunities in defending our communities and wild places from the new wave of gas pipelines, power infrastructure, and dirty data centers.
