ABOUT OUR TOPIC
As users of technology, there are times when our goals feel supported, and we’re guided seamlessly through an interface. But there are times when we experience friction, and instead of being assisted by the system, it burdens us. Friction can be experienced emotionally and cognitively. It can also be experienced through disrupted continuity and efficiency. All these diminish user experience.

Over the past few months, I have utilized my knowledge of design fundamentals to analyze various friction-filled interactions that I experienced as a user. In this talk, I will share my learnings from breaking down over 50 different friction-causing user experiences. I will discuss the different kinds of friction I experienced as a user, the design fundamentals that I used to analyze user experience friction, and the concrete and speculative negative consequences that stem from user experience friction (revenue loss, increased support costs, expensive rework, brand value deterioration, and opportunity cost).
