We're planning to read across all genres and have thoughtful conversations with like-minded book lovers over meals at local restaurants. Our final meeting of the year is set! Join us on Friday, December 19th at 7:15 PM at Murphy’s in Virginia Highlands for great food, cozy vibes, and a conversation about The Bees by Laline Paull.
We’ll be diving into this wonderfully strange, imaginative novel that follows Flora 717, a low-level worker bee who doesn’t quite fit the strict rules of her hive. As she moves through different castes and roles, we get a surprisingly rich look at power, loyalty, survival, and what it means to break free from a system that tells you exactly who you’re supposed to be. Vaguely dystopian, expect this book to be part survival, part social commentary, and fully immersive.
