Join us on Friday, October 23rd at 7:00 PM at Crispina Ristorante & Pizzeria in Vinings as we take on the entirety of The Hollow Kind by Andy Davidson (Approximately 448 pages). Come hungry and ready to talk, and we'll get a table sorted once everyone rolls in.

The book opens in 1989, with Nellie Gardner trying to get herself and her eleven-year-old son Max out from under her abusive husband. When her long-lost grandfather August Redfern dies and wills her his estate down in Georgia, she takes it as a way out. He'd run a turpentine operation outside the small town of Empire, and what she inherits is a thousand-odd acres of aging pine forest with a decaying farmhouse at the center of it, out at a place called Redfern Hill. Nellie sees a fresh start and the kind of home she never got to have, but there's something old in the ground out there, and her coming back has a way of stirring it. It's Southern Gothic horror, set deep in the Georgia backwoods, where the Redferns have generations of history sunk into the land and whatever's buried in it is older than any of them.

One heads-up: this one runs well past 400 pages, so give yourself a little more lead time than usual to finish before the 23rd.
