About us
A book club celebrating its second decade of women who love reading books about or set in NYC! Each season will feature a series of three books curated by rotating longterm members. Each series will feature a theme posted with titles and dates quarterly for ease of scheduling and commitment. Books will vary in genre from historical fiction, suspense, romance, contemporary, autobiography, classics and more.
Where We Gather: We will celebrate NYC literature via friendly public spaces, parks, occasional restaurant or food hall, possible field trips and maybe even some thematically matched venues!
Who Should Join: Women who enjoy reading books about NYC, who want to meet other women, form friendships and are committed to reading at least enough of the book to contribute to the conversation.
Why You Should Join: To have fun meeting in person, connecting with new people, sharing diverse viewpoints and develop a group of friends to discuss books with!
What Members Can Expect: A once a month meetup with lively conversation by committed readers who respect varying viewpoints, honor RSVP commitments and are willing to back their own commitment with a minimal $5 meeting contribution to support the group's continued success as well as the MeetUp Organizer hefty platform fee (which we greatly appreciate!).

Book Overview
A 160 Fantasy-horror Novella
Fantasy-horror novella that reimagines H.P. Lovecraft's xenophobic story "The Horror at Red Hook" from the perspective of a Black man, Charles "Tommy" Tester, in 1920s Harlem.
Tommy hustles to survive, delivering occult items, but becomes entangled in a deeper, cosmic horror that forces him to confront racism and ultimately embrace the monstrous identity of "Black Tom" to fight back against a world that fears him.
