Join us to explore this Columbia Land Trust property. Expect a moderate 5-mile ramble with a gentle 900' elevation gain. We'll skirt the mountain looking for spring beauty, few-flowered pea, larkspur, shooting star, puccoon, paintbrush, big-head clover, and more on a dirt road through oak and ponderosa woodlands. Then we'll continue up an open hillside where we'll lunch in sloping meadows of lupine and balsamroot. On a clear day, we'll be rewarded with expansive views of the Gorge and Mt. Hood. Tour Powell Butte Nature Park with Portland Parks and Recreation Ecologist, Christian Haaning, to learn about ongoing enhancement and stewardship activities on the site. Christian will guide a walk to discuss recent habitat enhancement projects and also some of the more unique habitat and other features of the Butte.
