Lacamas Prairie, Camas WA: NPSO Member Hike

Details

This premium field trip is offered to NPSO or WNPS members only, and is by special arrangement with the Washington Dept. of Natural Resources. Lacamas Prairie is the best (known) remnant of Willamette Valley wet prairie ecosystem occurring in Washington. It protects one of the largest populations of endangered Bradshaw’s lomatium as well as other rare plants including Oregon coyote-thistle, Hall’s aster, dense sedge, Nuttall’s quillwort, Hesperius penstemon, and small-flowered trillium. It's a flat 2 mile walk of about 2-3 hours through Oregon white oak and ash woodlands and wet meadows. Bring water, lunch, and $5 cash for your driver if carpooling from Portland.

Dress for any weather, including footwear for mud and marsh. A restroom is available at Lacamas Heritage Trail on NE Goodwin Rd.on the right, half a mile before the site. Information and directions for carpooling will be sent to all attendees. Lacamas Prairie is about 20 minutes from the I-205 Bridge.

Message Ron if you have other questions.
