NSW HUMANISTS MEETUP's event this Sunday 8 March 2026 3-5PM at Humanist House in Chippendale will be an open discussion on how Humanism meshes or mangles with other 'progressive' 'ideologies'. We don't have a speaker, so it's important to bring your own deas and experiences.

There can be divergent conceptions of humanism with 'post-enlightenment' and religious revivalist' thinkers dismissively lumping humanism with the disasters of fascism, nazism, modern cults, terrorism, militarism, eugenics, etc. Then where might we weave in wokism, centrism, cancelism, genderism, justicism, identityism, and social warrior activism. Then there's longstanding feminism, socialism, pacifism, globalism and environmentalism, plus 'human rights', veganism, transhumanism, altruism, anarchism, inter alia.

Traditionally Humanism has sought to focus on common humanity, reason, compassion, education, freedom, universalism and being opposed to religious dogmas and rigid ideologies. How does it all relate to the rainbow of progressive ideas in the 2020s. Please come and help with discussing all this.

NSW Humanist Meetup is sponsored by the Humanist Society of NSW. The HSNSW encourages honest, open conversations held in a respectful manner.

ABOUT HUMANISM
Humanism is a flexible, open-minded life philosophy where we explore our common humanity in an awesome world without theism (religion) and other supernatural beliefs. There is no dogma but a shared reality and an appreciation of basic human values like compassion, reason, and fairness. Humanism can be seen in the best aspects of the modern Enlightenment - secularism, science, social democracy, human rights, and human flourishing. We have a concern for the biosphere, and a delight in the world as it is - and as it could be. Our discussions respect reason, respect one another, and reject all dogmatic thinking.
