Arduino is an open source programmable circuit board that can be used in all sorts of projects both simple, large, and complex. This board contains a microcontroller which can be programmed to interact with objects in the physical world. Because of it’s flexibility and low cost, Arduino has become a very popular choice for interactive hardware projects.

In this class We'll Cover, What is an Arduino?

What sort of things can We do with the Arduino?

Different Arduino Models.

Discussing the Hardware Layout of Arduino Uno and Nano Boards.

Exploring the Arduino Editor Software.

Writing our first Code in the Arduino Editor.

Communicating with the Arduino over the Serial Console.

Controlling GPIO PIns and Blinking some LEDS.

Reading and Saving values to the EEPROM.

Reading Temperature Sensor From the Analog Inputs.

Coding a small Fan Controller using PWM.

Bring Your own Arduino or borrow one of ours. If you'd like to purchase a board, We'll have some available! We'll be writing some code, talking about hardware, and learning how to interact with some of the most basic components. You'll be ready to start your own projects after this class. You can borrow some of our supplies, or bring your own breadboards, Power Supplies, Soldering Irons, etc,

What to Bring:

• A laptop where you have admin privileges and the ability to get on a wifi network.
• Pre-install the Arduino editor from here: https://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/HomePage (Please do this BEFORE COMING TO CLASS)

Pre-Requisite Knowledge:

• None required, but any prior command line experience with Windows, Mac or Linux will be helpful.

Where do I park? / How do I get inside?

Parking: There is free street parking on N Ontario St. It is usually easy to find a spot after business hours or on weekends.

Getting inside: Once you park, head down the walkway, we are the long building in the back (see link for overhead directions)
