Book Nominations
After a few rounds of voting, we have whittled our categories down for the upcoming 2026 reading season and I have no doubt we'll get some really great books out of this!
The categories are:
January- 2025 NY Times Bestseller
February- Single Word Title
March- Neuroscience
April- Book By an Author Who Won a Nobel Prize in Literature
May- Book You Judge Solely By The Cover
June- Book Set In a Place You Want To Visit
July- Booker Prize Winner
August- Historical Fiction
September- Book Set In Arkansas
October- Magical Realism
November- Free Topic
Please reply to this email or email me separately at wnster@sbcglobal.net by December 10th with your nominations to be added to our voting ballot. When you submit a book, please include the title, author, number of pages, and a short description of the book (copy + paste from Google is totally fine). After I receive your book nominations, I will compile them into our ballot and send that out on December 12th. The ballot will close on December 16th at 5pm. You'll receive several reminders, I promise! Any category that results in a tie from the election will be voted on in person by the attendees of the party so if you wish to have final say, please come!
If this will be your first time participating in the election process, there are a few rules for book nominations. If you are nominating a book that is part of a series, please make sure you nominate the first book of the series. Please try to keep the books 350 pages or under (but we will make an exception for the right book) to ensure people are able to get through the book in a month. And finally, very importantly, please make sure the book is still in press and widely available (we accidentally chose an out of print book one month).
Finally, you may have noticed that November says free topic. This is the month where we all read different books with a common theme, author, subject, or other. When nominating a category for the month of November, it can be as broad as "Science" or as specific as "The Tudors" that is the common link. We had one year where we all read books by the same author! The purpose of this month is to facilitate a different kind of discussion where we find commonality and have the opportunity to discuss different perspectives so get creative!

Party Accoutrements
In the spirit of coming together for fun and celebration, if you want to bring something sweet or savory to share, it makes for a very festive environment but is totally optional! If you wish for an adult libation, BYOB but I will have an assortment of beverages, decaf coffee, soda, water, etc.

Book Exchange
One of our silly ways to share the joy of the season with each other is a book exchange. It's totally optional but if you wish to participate, just bring a wrapped book (from your home, used bookstore, etc) to the party and we will play a fun game together to swap books!
If you have any questions at all regarding the party or the election process, feel free to reach out by replying to this email or by texting me at 479-372-0158. I am looking forward to celebrating another wonderful end of year party with you all and ringing in a new year of books!
Very best,
Whitney
