What we're about

A group of developers, engineers, and technology professionals in the Capital District region of New York state who are using, or are interested in using, Amazon Web Services. Meetup topics will range from engineering and ops to business vertical use cases like health and gov. People turn to AWS for everything from Big Data and IoT to Serverless computing. We'll get together to learn from one another and share information. All levels of technical knowledge are welcome, from beginner to expert!

Meetups are planned to be held each month, usually 6PM Wednesdays, at the Jahnel Group's HQ in Schenectady, unless otherwise announced.

Contain Your Code in AWS ECS

Needs a location

Containers allow your application to be atomized into discrete parts that can be built, deployed, run, updated, and scaled quickly and easily without much consideration of the underlying hardware. Running containers in the cloud allows one to more easily use the pay for what you use model.

This talk, by fellow member Colin Walsh, will provide some background information on containerization and the applicable AWS resources. Colin will also be running through these resources with a demo, and will deploy an application to AWS!

Come and see how to publish Docker Containers to AWS’ Elastic Container Registry (ECR), and then launch a scalable application in AWS’ Elastic Container Service (ECS).

We'll start around 6PM with some pizza and beverages, and get the content rolling ~6:30. See you then!
