It's back to Hogwarts, which means getting to meet some new witches and wizards at the start of the schoolyear, and learning something after the summer off. So join us for a private walking tour with Boroughs of the Dead to hear about the history of the witches in New York. The full description:

As we walk Wall Street and its surrounding streets, we’ll meet witches of many kinds:

• Financial witches and “wizards” who bent markets through daring speculation and uncanny intuition, including figures like Victoria Woodhull, America’s first female stockbroker, and Hetty Green, whose brilliance made her both feared and reviled.
• Radical women and dangerous thinkers and literary witches
• Psychics, mesmerists, and spiritualists
• Spiritual and political resistance through faith

Along the way, we explore how superstition, intuition, and belief still shape markets today—and why Wall Street’s “financial wizardry” may not be as metaphorical as it seems.

Equal parts history, folklore, and cultural subversion, Witches of Wall Street reveals the magical thinking beneath capitalism and the people who were branded dangerous for seeing the world differently.

Perfect for lovers of hidden history, the occult, and anyone who suspects Wall Street has always been a little cursed.

Please arrive at 6:45 since the tour will leave promptly. Wear comfortable shoes, since it will involve two hours of walking! We're meeting at the intersection of Pearl St and Coenties Alley.

Please RSVP by August 20th at the latest. If we get fewer than 10 RSVPs, we won't be able to have the private event and will be forced to cancel.

As always, if you don't want to pay through the Meetup and PayPal, you can Venmo or Zelle us $49 instead. We're offering an early-bird discount, so $45 if it's before July 31st.
