Only if their oauth domain is on the Chinese
block list but yes, once they turn off basic authentication oauth always goes
to the “home server” which gives the Chinese one neck to choke regardless of how
many ‘sneaking clients’ are developed using different names.
Paradoxically this is also my concern
with Twitter moving to oauth. Twitter can with one keystroke render all of the
paid MyPostButler users invalid if they decide they don’t like something that
the application does.
The project needs someone more ‘diplomatic’
to steer it in the future……… I’m not it J

Dean

If that is true, it means pretty much all web apps that use cross
application communication will be inaccessible to china. No facebook apps. No
based twitter apps. No Yahoo based apps. No
Google based apps.

BTW heard the latest SNAFU at Twitter.
They just worked out on the weekend that Oauth is going to fail
for every user located in
1 Billion + potential users wiped off the potential user market

Basically you cant use web based apps OR desktop clients from
behind the Chinese firewall and never will be able to with oAuth L

MyPostButler.com is up for sale
Hi Matt,
Yes it will be sold with oauth support.
The developer should have that finished by Wed/Thursday I’ll then
send out to all the current users the latest version of the code but that will
be my last.
Need to spend my time on http://www.LiveChatConcepts.com

Dean,
From your earlier postings on the subject of the Twitter OAuth vs. Basic
authentication discussion, it seems as though mypostbutler currently requires
the Basic authentication method which is being phased out in 9 weeks. Is
it correct to assume that the version you are selling is lacking OAuth support
and will stop working in 9 weeks without the new owner writing the OAuth
support?

MyPostButler.com is up for sale
Hi Newtechies;
I’ve decided to put up for sale a few of my projects – one of
these is the application known as www.MyPostButler.com
This is a .net twitter application that I
launched in August 2009.
We got famous (infamous) because we were the
first company that twitter sent a C&D to because they didn't like that we
enabled end users to use the API - back then we were known as MyTwitterButler -
we changed the name to MyPostButler but pretty much everything else is the
same.
In simple terms "MyPostButler" is a
Windows XP .Net desktop application that does three things really fast and
really well;
1. "Auto Follow" Twitter users based on "Key Words"
they enter.
2. Send "Direct Message Broadcasts" to all your followers
at once.
3. "Bulk UnFollow Users" sorted by those who follow you
back and those who dont.
Primarily people use this app to build their
twitter follow lists. By posting in up to 4 keywords per account (you can run
multiple accounts simultaneously) it will auto-follow people who post these key
words.
Screen
shots are available at
http://www.mypostbutler.com/
http://www.mypostbutler.com/FAQ.html
A video demo of the application is located here
http://www.mypostbutler.com/demo.html
The sale will include;
1.
The .net source code
(current and a copy of all previous revisions)
2.
The URL’s www.MyPostButler.com
and previously used www.MyTwitterButler.com
3.
The html website
content currently located at these domains.
4.
The twitter username
@MyPostButler
5.
The rights to the
entire source code copyright (including fee for assignment documentation from
the original developer).
6.
The rights to
remake/rebrand/further develop the application in anyway you see fit.
I’m not sure
if any one on this list would want
to become “the code owner” but if you do I have set up auction at http://flippa.com/auctions/92443/MyPostButler-application-source-code-and-website-and-existing-client-base

Dean Collins
