Accessible to beginners and instructive for experienced astrologers, this talk will look at two famous predictions of the death in astrology (the deaths of Pico della Mirandola and Henri II of France) and the criticisms leveled by the scientific worldview against prediction in astrology. To understand the technique used in the 15th and 16th centuries we will have to briefly review the idea of primary directions. If time permits, we will test this technique using a modern chart with a well documented birth time.

Anthony Louis is a long-time student of astrology and has written numerous journal articles about astrology as well as books on horary astrology and solar returns. He has also translated into English Book 18 of Morin's Astrologia Gallica. His most recent book about the common symbolism shared by astrology and tarot will be published by Llewellyn in early 2014.

In line with the non-profit model, the goal is to collect just enough money to pay for expenses including room rental, meetup fees, and hopefully some compensation for the speaker. The hope is that a consistent amount of $5 from everyone each meetup will cover costs, averaged over the long term.

Since our speaker is from out of town, please donate more if you can. Thank you!
