What we're about

THIS IS OUR MAIN MANHATTAN MEETUP - mostly casual match play, usually attended by 25-35 players.
A "clinic match" / group lesson is featured at most meetups, starting around 7:45 and lasting about an hour. Players looking to take their understanding of the game to a higher level can participate in group "Clinic Matches" lead by resident Backgammon Giant, Richard Munitz.
Please bring a board if you have one, though if you don't, we do have a few extra boards available. New members: introduce yourself to any of the organizers (http://www.meetup.com/nyc-bg/pages/Meet_Our_Organizers/). To get you started we'll find someone to pair you up with for your first match. After your first match, please feel free to seek out available players to meet and play, throughout the night, just ask if someone would like to play.

Unlike many meetups, our group is FREE and asks no dues, but please note that Josie Woods is a business; there is a $15 minimum to buy food and drink. Please be considerate and mindful that we are spending hours in the great space that Josie Woods reserves for us, as well as the generous game and supply storage for the extra boards that our group uses.
Josie Woods is 1 block west of R/W train (8th St. stop) or 2 blocks west of
6 train (Astor stop)
