Vector databases have established themselves as the new semantic search norm, prioritizing the context and meaning of content over the conventional keyword-based approach. This talk will explore the traditional "Classic" search, highlight its constraints, and provide an overview of vector databases. This talk is aimed for developers who may have some experience with machine learning but looking to skill up. Additionally, it will cover what embeddings are, how to select the appropriate model, the mechanics of chunking, when to use a hybrid of classic and vector search, and how to implement vector searches in Python.
