Looking to connect with local Agilist in New York City?

You came to the right place – we are the longest running Agile group in town, and we have big plans for 2025!

NYC Scrum User Group was established in 2009 by Rob Purdie and then he was supported by Mary Pratt as a place where Scrum and Agile practitioners could gather monthly to learn from each other and from industry leaders, to share successes and failure, and to master their craft.
Over the years, our group developed a very distinct culture.
The best way to describe it? Think about a big family reunion at a fun science lab!
We strive to create a space where:

  • Everyone is welcomed,
  • Differences of opinions, frameworks, and practices are explored with curiosity
  • Playfulness is embraced in a very serious and purposeful way.
  • Experiments and half-baked ideas are invited as opportunities for creative collaboration,

In fact, we’ve run a ton of experiment as a group: “Scrum Back to Basics”, “This is how we do it”, World Retrospective Day, and so much more. We even had our own community-operated conference – Big Apple Scrum Day (2015 – 2020).
While the group is evolving and changing, what remains the same is our passion for bringing the community together IN PERSON for authentic collaboration, connections, and learning.
Join us to be a part of the new chapter!
We meet on the third Wednesday of every month for presentations, workshops, discussion and networking, all relating to Scrum specifically and Agile generally.

Moody's at 7 World Trade Center, 19th Floor, 250 Greenwich St., New York, NY, US

NYC SUG is thrilled to host Joanne (Jo) Perold again in person in NYC.
A former keynote speaker at one of our Big Apple Scrum Day conferences, Jo is now running annual
    Satir Leadership Development Workshops.
Join us for this very special session and enjoy the opportunity to learn about Virginia Satir work from one and only Jo Perold!

    Session Description:
We got very good at changing how we work. We built frameworks, refined processes, ran retrospectives, and shipped faster.
    And something still isn't working.
Because methods can only take you so far. At some point, the constraint isn't the process. It's the person running it.
In conversations with leaders across four countries, the same patterns emerged regardless of methodology, team size, or industry. Urgency replacing discernment. People going through the motions without authorship. Teams delivering but not believing their voice changes anything. Leaders protecting their people from above while quietly wondering if any of it is worth it.
These aren't process problems. They're human ones.
Virginia Satir spent her life asking what it means to be more fully human — and her answers turn out to be exactly what agile practitioners need next. Not better tools. Not more frameworks. The inner capacity to lead well in complexity, uncertainty, and change.
This session explores what that capacity looks like, why it matters more than ever now, and what becomes possible when we do our own inner work first.
The next frontier isn't a better process. It's a different person.
