Long Island City: Open studios, MOMA LIC museum, galleries, & river park

A thriving, often-overlooked arts community has sprung up in Long Island City. In addition to the usual attractions--art galleries and MoMA PS1, a contemporary-arts center affiliated with the Museum of Modern Art--neighborhood artists will open their studios to the public this weekend. We'll also visit Gantry State Park overlooking the East River, with great views of Manhattan.
LUNCH: Bring your own. We'll eat somewhere between 2 and 2:30.
DISTANCE: About 2-3 miles, ending at around 5 PM. But you can leave earlier, of course.
COST: Whatever you wish to pay at the museum.
ENDING TIME: Approximately 4:30 PM. But you can leave earlier, of course.
TRANSPORTATION: E, M, or 7 train to Court Square. G to Court Square not running normally. Please google MTA planned service changes for details about G service and for changes on your subway lines.
