Queens Park, museum, art, lake, and street food

Details

Let's visit Flushing Meadow park, the fourth largest in NYC. We'll view the inspiring remnants of the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs, then visit the Queens Museum of Art (free), featuring a 9,300 square-foot scale replica of every single building in NYC built before 1992. After late lunch (bring your own), we'll walk around the lake, where hopefully we'll see shore birds and wild plants seldom seen in the city. Finally, we'll visit the nearby Queens Night Market, featuring mostly Asian street food costing no more than 5 or 6 per dish.

DISTANCE: About 4-5 miles

FINISH AT: Around 5:30 PM, though you can leave earlier of course.

LUNCH: Bring your own . We'll start our late lunch at around 3 PM. Eat a light lunch if you want to visit the night market later.

TRANSPORTATION: Number 7 train to Mets-WillettsPoint. Google planned service changes for information about your subway lines on Saturday

DRIVERS: Meet us when we exit the subway system at 1 to 115 PM, outside the turnstiles on or at the end of the ramp or in the circle (with benches and bathrooms) beyond the ramp. Free parking at the Queens Museum. The Mets game starts at 715, so there should be street parking near the park in early afternoon. The map indicates there's a pedestrian entrance to the park next to the subway station (near 126th St. and Roosevelt Ave, across from Citifield.) If not, enter at Meridian Avenue, walk around the Tennis stadium, and ask someone for the subway--most people will know. Or Take the subway, or park somewhere you know along the 7 route and then take the train to willets.
