Silas Sewell is a DevOps Engineer at Shutterstock where he works on systems automation, analytics, distributed systems and developer tools. When not building stuff for Shutterstock he can usually be found at github.com/silas hacking on open source projects in Go, Node.js and Python. Allan Feid is a member of the Web Operations team at Shutterstock.

Allan manages over 600 nodes using a variety of open source software. He is constantly improving the node provisioning proces, custom inventory management system, and MCollective agents. Allan works closely with the Architecture team to roll out new backend services, which allows Shutterstock to scale easily as the company grows.

This talk will cover how Shutterstock uses Git, Puppet and Node.js to build, deploy and monitor web applications. It will cover how we use these technologies to deploy modern languages and frameworks to Enterprise Linux (CentOS, RHEL, etc..) in a fast and safe way. It will conclude with them open sourcing some tools based on the system built at Shutterstock.
