Thanksgiving Dinner for Orphans & Quasi-Orphans (Private RSVP Option)
No family in the city? Don't feel like travelling this year? Or just sick of your obnoxious Uncle Herman and his disgusting cigars? Well then, come enjoy the holiday with Meetup friends, old and new! IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: 1) Everyone pays in full for what they order, plus tax and tip. (The venue has agreed to give us separate checks.) 2) There is a $5.50 non-refundable event fee to attend, which must be paid in advance and is in addition to the cost of your meal. This prevents excessive no-shows, which would make an accurate restaurant reservation impossible and also disappoint the people who actually come. The funds will be used to help cover the organizer dues that I pay to Meetup. 3) Please do not ask to pay the $5.50 at the event. That would completely defeat the stated purpose. 4) Prepay via Brown Paper Tickets or Paypal: Or call 1 (800)[masked] and ask for event #[masked] Or go to: 5) After paying by one of the above methods, please check your credit or debit card account to make sure that the transaction went through. 6) Confidential registration: If you don't want your name or picture to appear on this page, then simply purchase your spot without doing an RSVP on Meetup. 7) Registration deadline is 1 pm on Thanksgiving Day. 8) We will be eating at: Tribeca's Kitchen, 200 Church Street, NYC 9) Please do not confuse this dinner with any other meetup on the same day and show up at lunchtime like someone did a few years ago. We are meeting at 6 pm. 10) Emergency contact number for the day of the event: [masked] This is not a smartphone and has no Internet access, so emailing, posting comments on this page, or messaging through the Meetup site (or app) will NOT work. Send "old-fashioned" texts only and please include your first and last name. (If you are not on the attendance list, you may not receive a response.) Also, no voice calls please, as they interfere with each other when received simultaneously (which happens a lot when you're an organizer). 11) The "+ xx" next to my name on the attendance list is a count of total signups from outside this group, manually updated every 12-48 hours. It is NOT an arbitrary number. However, also remember that "no-shows" can never be predicted perfectly. ======================================== The restaurant's full regular menu will be available: Plus, they offer a selection of holiday dinner specials, which include soup, salad, main course, potato and vegetable, coffee or tea, and dessert. Price depends on the entree, as follows: $30.95: Roast Turkey w/stuffing & cranberry sauce $28.95: Roast Duckling w/orange sauce $32.95: Sauteed Seafood Combo w/vegs in lobster sauce $34.95: Mixed Grill (pork, lamb & sirloin strip) ======================================== Happy Thanksgiving to all, Milton

What we're about

Going forward, the majority of the events posted here will be part of the Eileen Siegel Memorial Concert Series:

Attend performances by talented musicians, meet other audience members, and enjoy complimentary refreshments at this series that I founded and produce myself. Originally created specifically for Meetup members, it is named for my late sister, who shared the gift of music with many people as a teacher, journalist, violinist and pianist. In addition to classical, some programs may feature a certain amount of jazz, world music, Broadway or other genres. Tickets range from $12 to $35, depending on the venue and who is playing.

More info:

Note: If a sufficient group discount can be negotiated, we may continue to "meet up" a few times a year at public concerts, as well as lectures, plays, exhibits, etc. related to our topic.
