After our early dinner in Bergen we'll head to the port and catch the midnight sun as we depart from the port. Even though we are on the boat for one night, we'll still be able to enjoy all of the facilities. We'll also have access to an outdoor hot tub, indoor gym, and sauna. Wednesday, July 25: Visit Geirangerfjord & Alesund Town When you wake up on our boat, get ready to see and experience some amazing sites all around you. Our boat will cruise down to Gerangerfjord before turning around to the town of Alesund. The beautiful Geirangerfjord is one of Norway's most visited tourist sites. In 2005 it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is 15 kilometers long branch of the Sunnylvsfjord which is a branch of the Storfjord (Great Fjord), cutting in from the Atlantic coast just sound of the coastal town of Alesund. Arriving to Alesund will be in the early evening. Alesund is one of Norway’s most popular tourist destinations and famous for its Art Nouveau architecture. Blessed with one of those picture-perfect Norwegian settings surrounded by fjords and the high peaks of the Sunnmore Alps. In 1904 the majority of Ålesund, at the time comprised of wooden structures, was destroyed in a fire. Shortly after, over 50 architects from all over the country were brought in to design a new city. It was decided that the town would be re-built in the popular style of the time, Art Nouveau, or Jugendstil, which utilized stronger materials like brick and mortar.
