Plaza Hotel: 1. Dinner at the Plaza Food Hall 2. Free Live Jazz at the Rose Club

Details
The Plaza Hotel.
A setting for twenty-five movies, including 1971's Plaza Suite, the renowned Plaza Hotel is a favorite of many, including me. The Plaza was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986. The Waldorf-Astoria is the only other New York City hotel to be designated as a National Historic Landmark.

Wikipedia notes, "Long the site for famous performers and guests, the Plaza Hotel has also been the meeting place for important political meetings. The nationally known singers Eartha Kitt, Liza Minnelli, Kay Thompson, Sandler and Young, Andy Williams, and Peggy Lee played the Persian Room; unaccompanied ladies were not permitted in the Oak Room bar; and women favored the Palm Court for luncheons and teas. The Beatles stayed at the Plaza during their first visit to the United States in February 1964. On November 28, 1966, in honor of the publisher Katharine Graham, the writer Truman Capote hosted his acclaimed "Black & White Ball" in the Grand Ballroom."

From The Plaza's website: "A cultural oasis amid a bustling metropolis, The Plaza continues the tradition of defining luxury through unmatched service with a modern spirit. While traditions remain, such as the opulent grandeur of the Beaux Arts décor and the superb ambience of the legendary Palm Court, New York’s premier destination for Afternoon Tea, exciting new offerings include the elegant Champagne Bar and stylish Rose Club, as well as the acclaimed Todd English Food Hall and The Plaza Food Hall."

Tonight we will be having dinner in the new Plaza Hotel Food Hall, downstairs, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. At 8:30pm we'll go upstairs to the beautiful Rose Club (formerly the Persian Room) for drinks and for no-cover jazz from the outstanding Kat Gang (http://katgang.net/) and her band. The music begins at 9:00pm. (The music is free, but you should buy at least one drink.)

We'll meet just inside the front doors to the Plaza Hotel. Walk inside, through the front doors (under the flags), and we will meet right there. I will be holding a "MEETUP" sign, and I am 6'4". Then we'll go to the back of the hotel where the food court is, and take the escalator down to food court. I will be waiting just inside the front doors to the hotel with a sign that says "MEETUP" from 7:00pm to 7:10pm, for ten minutes only. Don't be late! You may want to plan to be there early, to make sure you arrive on time.

There are a number of different food vendors in the food hall, and the food is delicious and relatively inexpensive. Most of the food is not vegan, you will have to find the vegan food among the vendors. I will help you with this. But realize there will not be many vegan choices. If you are expecting many vegan food options, do not attend this event. The Plaza Hotel is NOT a particularly vegan destination. The only thing particularly vegan about this event is that vegans will be attending.

We will eat in the area by the escalators. I will leave a couple of "MEETUP' signs on our tables. Try not to be late, but if you are, look for the "MEETUP" signs on the tables in the area by the escalators.
