Intro to Django

Note: This meeting is at 6:00pm NOT 6:30pm, and RSVP will open on Thursday Oct. 31st at 4:30pm.

This talk will provide a basic introduction to the Django web framework. Django is one of the most popular web application frameworks available for Python.

This talk will focus less on code and more on giving viewers the understanding and tools they need to successfully know when Django is a fit for their project and to be able to dig into the finer details of Django on their own.

Specific topics to be covered include:

What is a web framework and why would one use a framework?

Why would one use Django?

What problems are Django well suited to solve?

What are the basic goals, principles, and patterns that guide the Django project/community?

What tools are available out of the box with Django?

What resources are available to learn about and explore the Django community?

Afterwards:

Join us afterwards for drinks at McKenna's Pub where we'll continue the discussion over drinks. McKenna's is located at 250 W 14th St. Our reservation is for 8pm.
